Are you going to be moving to the Phoenix area? Maybe you’re just thinking about relocating to a new part of town? Of course, you’ll want to find an area that’s a good fit.

Here’s our guide to the top six PHX neighborhoods for 2022.

Up and Coming Neighborhood

Garfield

The Garfield historic district is a culturally and architecturally rich neighborhood east of downtown Phoenix. This low-key agricultural tract turned neighborhood is filled with bungalow and Period Revival style homes for sale and for rent. The walkable streets, community garden, and trending local restaurants (check out our favorite, Welcome Diner) make it a desirable location for anyone looking to live in a diverse area close to the city and its attractions.

The entrepreneurial heartbeat is growing stronger in Phoenix, leading to the development of startup resources like the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation. With this being walking distance from Garfield, other venues include co-working spaces, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops galore to diversify the working and networking opportunities.

Family-Friendly Neighborhood

Surprise

If you’re looking for the small-town feel in a suburb of Phoenix, Surprise is your destination. Escape the big city chaos with mountains to the west, cornfields throughout, clean and well-maintained parks, and a family-centric focus. This modern little city boasts quality homes at a great value, low crime rates, and A+ amenities. Most people find they don’t even need to leave to go “into the city” often since Surprise offers everything you might need.

If you’re a sports fan, you’re in luck! Surprise is home to one of the top-rated spring training stadiums in Arizona for its family-friendliness and fan experience. This brings in beneficial tourism as well as a fun opportunity to watch the pros get ready for the season. When it’s not being used for baseball games, bring the family down for movie night!

Nightlife Neighborhood

Roosevelt Row

If being immersed in the arts is something that calls to you, Roosevelt Row or “RoRo,” may be the place for you. This unique district is home to downtown Phoenix’s renowned First Friday Art Walk (one of the largest in the nation), annual festivals, and a number of other underground events.

Eclectic restaurants and bars, one-of-a-kind boutiques, and numerous art galleries line the streets along with highrise apartments and new condos, all surrounded by the ever-growing street art. If starting your night at a brewpub and ending it at a dance club sounds like your ideal Saturday night, RoRo is your Phoenix neighborhood.

Area for Young Professionals

Camelback East

For the young professional, it takes the right balance of location, amenities, and affordability to consider a neighborhood ideal. The need to feel safe in your community is essential, but the desire for top schools is usually not a priority. What is more of a priority is having some solid local spots to unwind and mingle at while being able to easily commute to a job you love. Enter, Camelback East.

This pocket of Phoenix is named after the iconic Camelback Mountain which is central to the area. With downtown Phoenix, old town Scottsdale, and downtown Tempe all being within a 30 minute commute, this makes getting to work in high-demand areas a breeze. Not to mention, these areas are all hubs for some of the best restaurants and bars Phoenix has to offer. Did we mention there is prime shopping at the outdoor Biltmore Fashion Park and ample hiking trails on either side of the neighborhood?

Safest Neighborhood

Paradise Valley

Located North of Scottsdale and less than 15 miles from downtown Phoenix, this “jewel of the desert” is the wealthiest and the safest municipality in all of Arizona. Nestled between two tremendous mountainscape views, this neighborhood is known for its custom mountainside homes, celebrity neighbors, and upscale living.

Whether you are seeking a family friendly home or more of a bachelor pad, Paradise Valley offers top real estate choices. Enjoy golf courses, recreational activities, shopping, and dining in a way you never have before. If luxury is what you’re looking for, then you’ve found your place in Paradise Valley.

Most Sought After Neighborhood

Arcadia

This charming and vibrant neighborhood is only 10 miles northeast of downtown and a close trip to the airport and downtown Scottsdale. If citrus tree lined wide streets, urban dwellings, prime school districts, and the best dining and shopping options appeal to you, end your search with Arcadia.

This neighborhood is filled with things to do. When the sun is up, start the day with fresh baked treats from La Grande Orange Grocery, shop at locally owned boutiques, take on a hike at Camelback Mountain, or cruise along the Arizona Canal Trail on your bike. As the sun begins to set, enjoy small plates and a bottle of wine at Postino Wine Bar. Choose from cocktail bars, breweries, lounges, and clubs – whatever your pleasure, Arcadia is sure to have it.
